Through Display

Designed with production in mind, this multi-function display unit is simple in construction and suited to a variety of situations, from displaying books and ornaments, as a room divider, or for behind a sofa. This piece is made from laminated ply and veneered with American Walnut. Its uncomplicated structure gives it a striking appearance. The finish on this piece is a clear lacquer which was pulled over, giving a more hand polished effect, while maintaining the hard wearing advantages of lacquer.

Construction

The shelves of this unit slide though the uprights locking the whole structure together. The slots in the uprights were cut on a CNC machine, guaranteeing an accurate fit, and finished by hand to square off the corners. The uprights or laminates were made up from thin sheets of ply, glued together over a former while under pressure, to force the layers round the mould. Once dry, the laminates were removed from the mould and cut by hand to the desired shape.
